Audrey Alderson (nee McGhee)

April 20, 1925 - February 14, 1992

She is remembered for her courage, resilience, warmth, and lifelong devotion to those she loved.

Audrey Jane McGhee Alderson was born on April 20, 1925, in Innisfail, Alberta, the second daughter in a family of eight.

In 1943, at the age of 18, Audrey joined the Royal Canadian Air Force Women’s Division. She served as a corporal until the end of the Second World War, contributing to the national war effort at a time when Canadian women were taking on important new responsibilities within the Armed Forces.

In 1946, Audrey married Glen Alderson and moved to Winnipeg. Together they raised their children, Percy, Glenna, Bev, and Tracey. From 1961 to 1964, the family lived in Calgary, where Audrey worked at Mount Royal College, before returning to Winnipeg.

Audrey endured the profound losses of her husband, Glen, and her son, Percy, yet continued to be a source of strength and love to her family and the countless friends whose lives she touched.

Audrey passed away on February 14, 1992, at the age of 66.
