Audrey Veitch (nee TAYLOR)

October 3, 1933 - August 14, 2015

Through compassionate care, adventurous living, volunteer service, and boundless devotion to her family, Audrey showed that it is never too late to begin something new or embrace life more fully.

Audrey Veitch was a devoted mother, grandmother, nurse, traveller, and longtime volunteer whose energy, curiosity, and love of life carried her through every chapter.

Born in Netley, Manitoba, Audrey grew up on the family farm and treasured her memories of rural life. She later spent several years in Winnipeg Beach raising her children before moving to Winnipeg in 1972.

Audrey worked for many years at the Municipal Hospitals. Inspired by the care she witnessed there, she returned to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse at the age of 47. Her decision reflected the determination, compassion, and willingness to embrace new challenges that defined her life.

She was a loving mother to Kim, Karen, David, Alison, Duane, Heather, Laureen, Kyle, and Lance. Her large family remained at the heart of her life, and she delighted in supporting the activities and accomplishments of her many grandchildren.

Audrey embraced life with remarkable enthusiasm. She travelled around the world, enjoyed theatre and nature, and remained active through biking, canoeing, golfing, dancing, curling, and skiing.

Folklorama held a special place in Audrey’s heart. For many years, she volunteered with the Pavilion of Scotland, contributing her time, warmth, and lively spirit to the celebration of Scottish culture. She also supported numerous other community causes throughout her life.

Audrey passed away peacefully on August 14, 2015, surrounded by her family.
