Cathie Campbell (née Riddoch)
December 10, 1942 - December 6, 2018
Through more than 30 years of loyal service, Cathie became part of the heart, history, and enduring fellowship of the Pavilion of Scotland.

Catherine “Cathie” Campbell was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and tireless volunteer whose service to Winnipeg’s Scottish community spanned more than three decades.
Born in Stonehaven, Scotland, Cathie attended school in Aberdeen before immigrating to Canada with her parents in 1955. Although Winnipeg became her home, she maintained a lifelong connection to the culture and traditions of Scotland.
Cathie married David “Dave” Watson Campbell at St. Andrew’s United Church on July 11, 1964. They initially settled in St. James before moving to St. Vital in 1971, where they built their family life together.
Cathie worked for the T. Eaton Company, first in the Grill Room and later as an accounting clerk for 15 years. She also worked as a bank teller with Toronto-Dominion Bank and the Royal Bank before retiring.
Scottish culture was an important and enduring part of Cathie’s life. She participated in Scottish country dancing and volunteered with Folklorama from the days of the original Mug Pub Pavilion through the establishment and growth of the Pavilion of Scotland.
For more than 30 years, Cathie gave generously of her time and energy to the Pavilion. Her longstanding service helped preserve its traditions of fellowship, hospitality, and cultural celebration.
Cathie was also involved with the Ena Sutton Highland Dancers, assisting Judy Rowan while Dave served as piper for the group. Together, Cathie and Dave supported generations of dancers and shared in the friendships that grew around Highland dance and Scottish music.
Away from her volunteer commitments, Cathie enjoyed camping trips with family and friends and travelling with the Winnipeg Wandering Wheels RV Club. She and Dave were also members of Windsor Park United Church.
Cathie passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital on December 6, 2018, just four days before her 76th birthday.
