Christine Marguerite Wallace

January 1, 1939 - March 8, 2015

Through teaching, dancing, and a lifetime devoted to caring for others, Christine shared the grace, friendship, and enduring spirit of Scotland wherever she went. “It’s sair tae bear.”

Christine Marguerite Wallace was a devoted early-childhood educator, gifted Scottish country dance teacher, and cherished member of Winnipeg’s Scottish community.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Christine maintained a deep and lifelong connection to her homeland and its traditions. Her passion for Scottish country dancing became one of the defining joys of her life.

As a lifelong member and teacher with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, Christine shared far more than steps and formations. Through her patience, knowledge, and enthusiasm, she introduced others to the fellowship, music, and living traditions of Scotland. Her dedication helped generations of dancers discover confidence, friendship, and a lasting appreciation for Scottish culture.

Christine also devoted her professional life to early-childhood education. She cared for children with kindness, dignity, and respect and was deeply valued by the parents and families who entrusted their children to her. Her work reflected her natural ability to encourage others and make them feel safe, welcomed, and important.

She was also a valued member of the Pavilion of Scotland community, where her love of dance and Scottish heritage contributed to the warmth and cultural spirit of the Pavilion.

Christine remained closely connected to her sisters, Alison and Mary; her brother, Alistair; her extended family in Scotland; and her beloved niece, Darlene Maxwell, in Winnipeg. She also held a special place in the hearts of the Shariff family, who were profoundly grateful that she had become part of their lives.

Christine passed away suddenly on March 8, 2015.
