Donald (Don) Davidson
March 25, 1933 - October 11, 2003
Through friendship, service, and a life deeply rooted in his community, Don left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Don Davidson was born on March 25, 1933, in Winnipeg’s Weston neighbourhood. In 1940, his family moved to St. Vital, the community where he would grow up, build lifelong friendships, raise his family, and remain actively involved for many years.
Sport was an important part of Don’s life. As a longtime member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club, he enjoyed both recreational and competitive paddling and served for several years on its Board of Governors. He began curling at the age of 15 with the Granite Curling Club and later curled with the St. Vital and Grain Exchange curling clubs.
In 1954, Don married Janet Thomas. Together, they made their home in St. Vital and raised their children, Barbara and Tom. Don took particular joy in his grandsons, Christopher and Scott, whom he affectionately regarded as his “pals.”
Following in his father’s footsteps, Don built a long career in men’s clothing. He worked at Dan Davidson’s Men’s Wear, Eaton’s, Harry Rosen, and Winnipeg Instant Tailors before establishing his own business, Don Davidson Clothier. His warmth, professionalism, and genuine interest in people earned him many loyal customers and lasting friendships.
Don also gave generously to his community. He served as President of the Kiwanis Club of South Winnipeg and was a Past Master of Fidelity Lodge No. 146, A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of Regents Park United Church, now St. Mary’s Road United Church.
After a courageous four-year battle with cancer, Don passed away peacefully on October 11, 2003, with his family by his side.
