Douglas (Doug) Brett
October 4, 1926 - October 10, 2000
His humour, storytelling, love of Scotland, and joy for life continue to be remembered by all who knew him.

C. Douglas “Doug” Brett lived with humour, curiosity, pride, and an unmistakable zest for life.
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Doug worked in several fields over the years, including Dunlop Tire, General Motors, the Community Ecumenical Ministry, and later the Workers Compensation Board. Each chapter of his life reflected his strong character, lively mind, and genuine interest in people.
Doug shared 52 loving years of marriage with his wife, Rosemary, affectionately known as Buddy. Together, they built a close and loving family that included their children, Scott, Chris, Rob, Paula, and Lauren, as well as six grandchildren.
Retirement did little to slow him down. His business card proudly described him as a “Consultant, Entrepreneur, Celtic Curmudgeon, Raconteur and Bon Vivant” — a fitting tribute to his wit, warmth, and larger-than-life personality. An avid reader and gifted conversationalist, Doug was always ready to share a story, an opinion, or a well-timed joke.
Deeply proud of his Scottish heritage, Doug served as Mayor of the Pavilion of Scotland during Folklorama and was a vibrant member of the Caledonian Singers.
Doug passed away on October 10, 2000, with his family by his side.
