Elaine Doylend

October 8, 1942 - October 14, 2008

Through her love of family, friendship, and heritage, Elaine brought warmth and quiet grace to the lives of those around her.

Elaine Doylend was a devoted wife, loving mother, loyal friend, and valued member of Winnipeg’s Celtic community.

She shared a happy life with her husband, George, and took great pride in their sons, Neil and Glen. Family was at the heart of Elaine’s life, and she is remembered for the warmth, kindness, and quiet devotion she offered to those closest to her.

Elaine maintained a deep appreciation for her family heritage. A particularly treasured memory was a journey to Scotland in 1990 with George and her parents, Mary and Ben Low—a trip that strengthened her connection to the country, its traditions, and its people.

Elaine was also a member of the Pavilion of Scotland family, contributing to the fellowship and cultural spirit that brought volunteers and visitors together each year. Her memorial gathering at Winnipeg’s Irish Club reflected the many friendships she formed within the city’s close-knit Celtic community.

Elaine passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital on October 14, 2008, six days after her 66th birthday. She was laid to rest in the Garden of Devotion at Green Acres Cemetery.
