Ian Fyfe
June 4, 1926 - May 12, 2005
Through military service, volunteerism, teaching, and quiet acts of kindness, Ian gave generously of himself to his country and his community.

Ian Fyfe lived a life marked by military service, community involvement, and a genuine willingness to help others.
Raised in Winnipeg’s Fort Rouge neighbourhood, Ian served overseas during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Hussars. After returning home, he settled in St. Vital, where he lived for more than 55 years and became deeply involved in the life of his community.
Ian worked over the years for Imperial Oil, Safeway, and Canada Post. He also continued his military service as a member of the Reserve Army with the Fort Garry Horse. His connection to the regiment remained meaningful throughout his life.
His interests and volunteer commitments were wonderfully varied. Ian contributed to the Glenwood Community Club, instructed swimming at several City of Winnipeg pools, taught sign language, and volunteered with the Pavilion of Scotland. He was also involved with the St. Vital Legion and the New Democratic Party.
As a member of Windsor Lodge, Ian volunteered as a driver for CancerCare, helping patients attend appointments and receive the care they needed. In later years, he especially enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of the Adanac Carvers.
Ian was a devoted husband to Ivy and a loving father to Lynne, Sharon, Doug, and Ralph. He took great pride in his grandchildren, Stewart, Thomas, Richard, Janice, Jenna, and Andrew.
Ian passed away on May 12, 2005, after a lengthy illness.
