Janet Davidson (nee THOMAS)
April 16, 1933 - August 19, 2010
Through sport, fellowship, faith, and years of dependable volunteer service, Janet helped strengthen the community she proudly called home.

Janet Davidson was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, community volunteer, and enthusiastic sportswoman whose generosity and quiet leadership enriched life in St. Vital and beyond.
In 1954, Janet married Donald “Don” Davidson. Together, they chose St. Vital as the place to build their home, raise their children, Barbara and Thomas, and participate actively in the community they loved.
Sport was an important part of Janet’s life. She belonged to the Winnipeg Canoe Club and was a longtime member of the St. Vital Ladies Curling Club. Her dedication to curling led her to serve as President of the St. Vital Curlettes and as a member of the Manitoba Ladies Curling Association Council.
Janet also contributed her time and knowledge to the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame and Museum, helping preserve and celebrate the history of a sport that had brought her friendship, fellowship, and many years of enjoyment.
Alongside Don, Janet volunteered with the Manitoba Progressive Conservative Party, Neighbourhood Watch, and Folklorama’s Pavilion of Scotland. Her work at the Pavilion reflected her commitment to community service and her enjoyment of the friendships formed through the celebration of Scottish culture.
Janet was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Road United Church, where she willingly helped whenever she was needed.
Above all, she was a loving mother to Barbara and Thomas and a proud grandmother to Christopher and Scott. Her family, friends, and community benefited greatly from her steady support and willingness to serve.
Janet passed away peacefully at Park Manor Personal Care Home on August 19, 2010.
