John Alexander Gunn
November 20, 2015
Through faith, music, mentorship, and a lifelong spirit of service, John helped others find fellowship, confidence, and joy.

John Alexander Gunn was a man of faith, music, outdoor adventure, and devoted community service.
A lifelong member of St. George’s Anglican Church, Crescentwood, John played an active role in the life of his church. For many years, he sang in the church choir, sharing his love of music and worship with the congregation. That passion for singing also led him to participate in several other choirs throughout his life.
John felt equally at home in the outdoors. He loved canoeing, camping, and exploring nature—interests first nurtured through Manitoba Pioneer Camp and Scouts Canada. Introduced to both organizations as a child, he remained involved for many years as a counsellor, leader, volunteer, and loyal supporter.
Through Scouting and Pioneer Camp, John helped younger generations develop confidence, independence, friendship, and an appreciation for the natural world.
John also volunteered with numerous cultural and community organizations and is remembered as part of the Pavilion of Scotland family. Wherever he became involved, he offered his time generously and quietly helped strengthen the community around him.
John was a loving brother to Bruce and a devoted uncle to Kathleen, Megan, and Kayla. He remained deeply connected to his family, church, fellow campers, Scouts, singers, volunteers, and friends.
John passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2015.
