Muriel Jean Milne (nee Sim)

January 1, 1920 - March 26, 2009

Through heritage, friendship, travel, and a lifelong enthusiasm for new experiences, Muriel brought energy and enjoyment to every chapter of her life.

Muriel Jean Milne was an independent, adventurous, and community-minded woman who embraced friendship, travel, creativity, and her Scottish heritage throughout her life.

Born in Domain, Manitoba, Muriel moved to Winnipeg during the 1940s. She built a long career with the Hudson’s Bay Company, where she worked for more than 35 years.

Muriel shared many happy years with her husband, Gordon. Together, they enjoyed camping and travelled extensively throughout Canada, creating treasured memories along the way.

Following retirement, Muriel spent more than 30 winters in Mesa, Arizona, where she enjoyed an active social life and participated in numerous crafts and community activities. In later years, she spent her summers at Winnipeg Beach with her companion, Clete McDole.

Proud of her Scottish heritage, Muriel was a member of the Sons of Scotland and is remembered as part of the Pavilion of Scotland community. Her involvement reflected her enjoyment of fellowship, tradition, and the celebration of Scottish culture.

Muriel also loved gardening and the outdoors. Never one to let age limit her curiosity, she took up golf while in her late seventies—one more example of her willingness to try something new and enjoy life fully.

Muriel passed away on March 26, 2009, at the age of 89. She is remembered with affection by her sisters, Margaret and Eileen, her many nieces and nephews, and the friends she made throughout her long and active life.
